Personal:

Born in the UK of working class parents, I was brought up in a Hindu Bengali Brahmin family, which valued education (even for girls!), culture, justice, faith and an open mind to make sense of the world. Now in my 50s, with an earlier career as a professional electrical engineer, I’ve learned a lot more about life … and about me too.

Professional:

I’ve been a Consultant Integrative Psychotherapist for over 26 years, working face to face and online.

I’m a BACP Accredited therapist and a Senior Accredited Clinical Supervisor (for other therapists) working with individuals and couples face to face and online (Using Zoom, Teams and WhatsApp video and audio).

I am a critical incident de-briefer, on-call to companies whose staff have suffered workplace trauma, where I support their recovery through processing and building stability to reduce the impact & potential for re-traumatisation.

And a human relations psycho-educator (HE, corporate and public sector settings), media expert commentator, researcher and published writer.

My other work roles are:

Executive Life Coach: where I enter the corporate world, which can be a challenging environment. Competing priorities can adversely impact health and stress can create complications physically, emotionally and psychologically that makes living harder. I support senior executives to learn how to navigate life better (and potentially longer).

Polarity Therapist: where I work with the human energy system through a powerful body-work process. The fundamental component I work with is a person’s vital force that is akin to electricity, and what Freud and Jung called the libido. It is the very energy that keeps us alive. It also manifests as one’s vitality which can vary in its intensity depending on many factors including life circumstances, stress, health conditions, work and home demands etc.. During a polarity session, I seek to enhance this vital force, all through the power of touch and technique (whilst the client remains fully clothed).

Expert Media Commentator: I regularly appear on local and national radio and tv as well as digital print media talking about mental health, mid-life, menopause and more:
