Critical Incident Stress Debriefing is a specific process to help individuals and groups who have experienced or been exposed to a traumatic event. The two-fold process can help to reduce, stabilise and resolve the turbulence, concerns or anxieties that such an experience often causes.
Within a work setting, traumatic events happen (including workplace restructuring and redundancy; on-site accidents, incidents, loss of life etc…) and can impact people in allsorts of ways:
- when a trauma occurs on-site and directly affects an individual or group
- for individuals/teams involved in the rescue and recovery process
- for those involved in the peripheral process
- for those who witness the event – directly and indirectly
The service I offer includes:
- On-site within 72 hours of the event happening:
- I work with individuals and groups to process the immediacy of the trauma, with the aim of enabling a return to feeling safe and grounded.
- I also assess and make recommendations for individuals who might benefit from further trauma counselling support.
- Return on-site visit:
- I work with the teams to work through any trauma residual effects to ensure that resolution has been reached.
- Time gap between visits: would be negotiated based on my assessment and recommendations.
- Geographical locations covered include: Cumbria, The North-East, The North-West and South-West Scotland.
