Let me help you through any emotional problem you may have
Over 25 years experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist in private practice.
During the last 25 years time I have also worked as a University staff and student counsellor, as a RELATE counsellor and, since 1994, as an EAP counsellor (which means that I have been selected to provide counselling for employees of several major companies based in (or with branches in) the East Midlands).
As a trainer of counsellors for 10 years I gained many additional insights, both theoretical and practical Since 1987, my rôle as a clinical supervisor of other therapists has added to my understanding of an even greater range of client concerns and therapeutic responses.
Until 2002 my work was equally divided between being a Principal Lecturer in Counselling and Psychotherapy at Nottingham Trent University (NTU), and my independent practice as a counsellor, psychotherapist, clinical supervisor and consultant. Since taking early retirement from NTU (due to my continuing sight loss*), most of my work is as an independent practitioner, and provider of CPD events for other therapists.
* I have been registered as blind since 1980 (although I retain a little usable vision), and am particularly experienced in working with people who are facing issues of disability, loss and adjustment.
I am aware of the understandable sense of vulnerability which many clients may feel, and
I work to the highest possible professional and ethical standards in all aspects of my practice. To this end I have sought and been awarded two accreditations by the BACP, one as a therapist and the other as a trainer of therapists. This is the highest level of ‘practitioner licensing’ available for counsellors in the UK.
